Field trip to Mount Majella in Italy

Geology is learned first and foremost on the field…

… that is why last week, a team of our specialists, involving fracture specialists, structural geologists, geomechanical and reservoir engineers, travelled to Italy to visit Mount Majella.

This field trip allowed them to focus on the fracturing & faulting mechanisms in massive platform carbonates, including grainstones, mudstones and marls related to slope and basinal environments of the Majella Moutain.

A deep understanding of the processes which lead to fractures, fault nucleation and growth is crucial for evaluating the hydraulic behaviour of deformed carbonate rocks.

Seeing, touching and understanding the geological objects we model allow us to offer effective solutions which are close to the subsurface reality.
